Welcome! This resource center was created by the New Mexico Guardianship Association under a contract with the Office of Guardianship. The New Mexico Guardianship Association is a volunteer-driven organization devoted to improving guardianship practice in the state of New Mexico. Membership in the organization is open to the public and provides many opportunities to get involved with others doing similar work. The Office of Guardianship is an agency of the State of New Mexico charged with assisting qualified individuals in obtaining a guardianship order. Both organizations are available to assist you in obtaining information on guardianship.
The purpose of this website is to provide resources for individuals who are seeking information regarding guardianships. Whether you are a family member considering the need for guardianship for a loved one or a professional working with guardians, it is our hope that you will find this resource center useful in improving your understanding of guardianships and the complex issues these types of proceedings can often present.
Because guardianships and conservatorships are both protective proceedings involving incapacitated persons, the information below will provide brief introductions to both types of proceedings.
